yes, we had a meeting this week.

Note for exam week - the wall will be open at least one day that week, but it is to be determined at this point - we will have our final meeting of the semester on that day (whatever it is).

Hey! Does anyone want to go to Planet Rock (in Ann Arbor or Pontiac) over christmas break sometime?  because i do.  let me know what day/weekend/time would be good for you.

Jacquie might open up the wall a couple times over christmas break if she is around and if people want to climb.  she will keep us posted on days.

in January, Gordo is having a bouldering competition at the climbing wall in Midland.  even though Gordo is a big-time loser, it will probably be a good competition.  Gordo also says that he doesn;t know any good girl climbers.  thanks a lot, Gordo.  well that is kind of out-of-context, but i hope he gets some female hate mail anyway.

Elliot wants to use his helicopter to ship in some huge boulders.

oh crap! i forgot to send out the minutes from last week.  no surprise there.  anyways..

last week we talked about some bouldering designs, bring ideas to the next meetings.  jacquie is going to propose at the next meeting. propose what? i don’t know, but that is what i have written on my paper.

6 of us went to KY last weekend and did some sweet climbing.  ryan, adam, marina, jimmy, brad and i went down in a van which we named ‘dances with hemp’.  oh yeah and we saw jacquie down there too.  at this week’s meeting ryan showed a slide show of our trip.  neat!

NEXT WEEKEND!  WE ARE GOING TO CLIMB IN ILLINOIS!  CONTACT MATT CHRISTENSEN IF INTERESTED!  there are at least 6-7 of us that want to go.  we need to figure out what we are doing for transportation by tomorrow, so talk to ryan or matt.  i believe we are planning to leave friday afternoon like 5-6ish.

on sat. nov. 17 there is a bouldering competition at GVSU.  keep that in mind if you want to go to that.

Here they are.

It was noted that our official culinary architect fulfilled his club duties and brought in a chocolate cake, which our very immature president smeared all over my face.  thanks a lot. luckily i am pretty sweet and i got him back pretty good.  jimmy also brought brownies made out of whole natural organic materials.

Shirts are in and they are 12.00.  bring money to next meeting if you want one, or contact ryan. or adam dunn.

Some people are going to the red river gorge to go climbing/camping next thursday.  i think there are at least 3 people going, and i am probably going too if there is room.  contact ryan or adam.

a special note from matt christensen, who stood in line for an hour for a concert last week, only to be denied entry; he then drove home and proceeded to lock himself out of his apartment and was forced to sleep in his car overnight.  so point and laugh if you see matt christensen.

On friday (yesterday, oops) they had the critical mass between pierce and anspach at 5:00.  looks like they will be having monthly meetings for that.

also, for some reason i have the name ‘PAT’ written on my notes with a big heart around it - not for sure what that is supposed to mean.

HA! i am officially awesome.  the only way i could get the minutes out earlier is if i sent them before the actual meeting.  which is impossible.

a special thank you to trisha p. who filled in as the substitute culinary architect and brought chocolate chip cookies.  ryan ate 3 of them and would have gone for a 4th if i had not stopped him.

Jacob, Brad, and some other guy (i think his name is Matt) went to KY last weekend and they have some sweet pictures.  you can view them on matt christensen’s facebook page.

Ryan and Adam modeled our  new club shirts, and despite seeing their morbidly obese bodies, people bought shirts anyway.  they are 12.00 and the colors are white, green, and cardinal.  talk to ryan if you still want one.

This weekend, Matt is going to Planet Rock in Ann Arbor with a blind pig.  I think he is leaving Friday afternoon.  Contact Matt Christensen if interested.

Jacquie announced that there are some groups coming in this weekend to the wall and they would appreciate volunteers if you are able to help out.

Bouldering designs - make them, bring them.

On Saturday, Jacquie will open the wall to set up routes.  She will be here at 3:30 and if no one shows up by 4:00, you will have to break in.

On Sunday, Gordo is having some party thing at his house.  there are going to be bands, horseshoes, slacklines, beer, and other stuff.  it starts at 2:00 and he lives on old mission rd.  see jordan bruursema’s facebook profile for more details about the event.

The first weekend of november, ryan and adam are going to KY.  let them know if youre interested.

oh crap!  everything in this email has already happened!  sorry. again.

ryan announced that he had some happy news and some sad news at the meeting.  the happy news was that his dad showed up.  the sad news was that he has (had) a paper due this (last) week.  poor ryan.  other sad (annoying) news is that he really did order the shirts but there will be no brown colored shirts.  they will be either white, green, or cardinal.  39 shirts were ordered, and it should take 7-10 days for them to be finished.  hey!  they are probably already finished :)  and they will be $12.00.

ryan announced that cell phones should be turned off during the meetings.

some people went to KY last weekend.  sorry if you wanted to go and didn’t get the memo in time.

keith leaves (left) for CO on Sunday.  sorry if you wanted to say bye to him and didn’t get to because you got this message late.  i’m sure he will come back someday.

oh my gosh! this is late!

haha half this stuff is outdated.  i will send it anyway.

on saturday, Gordo and others set up new routes at the climbing wall and cleaned off some holds.  way to go Gordo.

Rocktoberfest is still happening.  there are at least 4 people planning on going - they will leave thurs. or fri. and come back sunday.

Gordo said some jibberish about ecological footprints, reducing the impact of global warming, blah blah blah something on someday, date to be decided.

Ryan says that the shirts are “fricking awesome and on their way” which, translating from hippie talk means that he has not ordered them yet and they will be made out of recycled paper.

on the 21st (sun. at 2:00), Gordo is having a mini-festival thing at his house with bands, horse shoeing, slacklining, cider, pumpkin carvings, etc.

Coming up in November is a bouldering competition at GVSU.

well hello.

if you haven’t been coming to meetings, you are missing out.  we had 2 people bring in desserts this week, and there were a couple fights during the meeting.  it was an exciting time.

Ryan talked about the Access Fund more..  A trip to Grand Ledge has been planned for 2 weekends from now on Saturday for a climbing day with perhaps some cleanup for Adopt a Crag.  For more details, contact Ryan.

Rocktoberfest is still October 12-14.  We passed around a signup sheet for people interested in going, and it looked like 10-15 people were interested.

We are ordering On Belay shirts soon.  They will be around $10.00.  If you still want to order one, let Ryan know what size and color you want - color choices are brown, tan, forest green, or white (for tie-dying if you are a hippie).

For the record, this is the earliest I have ever sent out the meeting minutes.

late again, i know.

T-shirt prices will be $9.75 for those ordering t-shirts.  Color ideas are tan, brown, or forest green.  Ryan is going to order 35-40 tshirts, so there will be extras to buy if you didn’t order one.

Some ideas for near future…

Joining the American Alpine Club.. they may be willing to contribute $$ if we have an event (such as a climbing competition, or guest speaker, etc)  Check out the website online.

We may want to participate in Adopt a Crag at Grand Ledge sometime this fall - to pick up trash, climb, and have a party afterwards.  More details to come.

Rocktoberfest is the 2nd weekend in Octoberfest at the Red River Gorge.  Contact Dan Koefoed for details.

If you have bouldering designs, bring them to the meetings.

Minutes for Sept. 12 on belay meeting… enjoy.

Our culinary architect finally showed up and brought cookies.  Chelsea brought a casserole.

We decided on a tshirt design - It will have the circle design on the front and the shoes design on the back.  We signed our names on a sheet for sizes for Ryan to order.  If you didn’t get a chance to sign up for one, just let Ryan know what size you want.  He will also order extra shirts to sell.  Call Ryan for more info (usually 3 a.m. is the best time to call).

Gordo will be at the wall this weekend setting up new routes on the wall.  Call Jordan if you want to help or set your own route.

We are considering having club fees this semester since we are becoming an official RSO.  No vote on the amount yet.  As a club, we want to have every member volunteer at the wall at least 1 time a month.  We discussed the idea of getting a free day climb pass for the volunteer or (if they already have a year pass) a friend of the volunteer for each time worked.

Bring bouldering design ideas if you have them.  In the near future we may want to raise money to add onto the bouldering wall.
